STILLWATER — Brennan Presley is a connoisseur of candy and an aficionado of touchdowns.
Oklahoma State’s sophomore star on Monday listed all of the candies he likes, saying he doesn’t need to go trick or treating because he already has it all at home. Sweetart Ropes, Starburst Minis and Ghirardelli’s are some of his favorites. There is some variety there, like the ways Presley is dangerous on the football field. He is dangerous catching the ball, running the ball and returning the ball (he is working on the passing part).
Presley has scored five touchdowns in Oklahoma State’s past three games after he didn’t score at all in OSU’s first three games. He is tied for the team lead in scoring with Jaylen Warren, each totaling 36 points this season. His 569 all-purpose yards rank second on the team behind Warren.
This spree that Presley has been on started in Austin when he had a fourth-quarter touchdown catch against Texas that pulled OSU within 2 after having trailed all day.
Then in Ames, Presley had a pair of first-half touchdown catches, the second of which saw him outjump a pair of Iowa State defenders and landed him on Randy Moss’ “You Got Mossed.”
Presley added another pair of scores (on only three offensive touches) against Kansas on Saturday, including his first rushing score of the season.
Schools from all over must be kicking themselves for overlooking the Bixby standout. Presley didn’t have a Power Five offer outside of Oklahoma State, as schools like Memphis, Eastern Michigan, Arkansas State and Air Force were others in the running for Presley’s services.
Having grown up an Oklahoma State fan, Presley said there were times where he wasn’t sure if even OSU would offer. Kasey Dunn offered Presley a scholarship on June 25, 2019 — 24 days after New Mexico State reached out.
“I knew I was going to commit, but I was basically just waiting, like, ‘Nah, I’m not going to,’” Presley said. “It took me like three hours, and I called him back and I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m coming.’”
Not even two full seasons into his college career, Presley has already scored three touchdowns in a bowl game last season and has been a major player in the Cowboys’ hopeful trip to the Big 12 Championship game this season.
Not bad for an undersized kid who garnered one Power Five offer and didn’t even receive and offer from Tulsa, which is a 30-minute drive from Bixby.
